Service Evaluation and Academic Research

Pastoral Cymru recognises that the assessment and treatment of personality disorder, while not new, is still developing. We are therefore committed to supporting academic developments so that the unit will be a centre for research, training and teaching in this field.

The care and treatment provided across the Pastoral Cymru Group will be evaluated and complemented through collaboration with Cardiff university via a multi-disciplinary research programme in forensic psychiatry and psychology that aims to demonstrate the difference our service provision makes.

This research programme will include a joint appointment of a Senior Lecturer in Forensic Psychiatry who will also provide clinical input to services. Supervision for this post will be provided jointly between the Medical Director and the Chair in Psychiatry.
