        Dr Tegwyn Williams, Group Medical Advisor 

Tegwyn is a Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist and as Group Medical Advisor, he is responsible for providing medical advice, input, guidance and support in the following areas;

          • The development of models of care
          •  The recruitment of senior staff for the service
          • Senior clinical staff supervision
          • The development of Clinical Governance and Standards of Care

 

 

       Professor Nicola Gray, Head of Psychology and Consultant Clinical

       and Forensic Psychologist

Nicola Gray received her PhD in 1991 from the Institute of Psychiatry, University of London.  She is a Consultant in Clinical and Forensic Psychology.  She was promoted to Professor in 2007 for her research in clinical and forensic psychology.  She is now Head of Psychology for Pastoral Cymru, is a Director of the Wales Applied Risk Research Network (WARRN – www.warrn.co.uk), and holds an honorary professorship in the School of Medicine at Swansea University.  Her research interests cover risk assessment and risk management, psychopathy, sexual offending, and the treatment and management of personality disorder.

        Mrs Therisa Galazka, Registered Manager

Ty Cwm Rhondda

Therisa is an experienced registered nurse and specialist practitioner in both acute, low and medium secure settings. She was involved in the operational development of the first pioneering Women's service in Wales and development of Ty Cwm Rhondda.

Therisa has extensive team leadership experience adopting high standards of practice to achieve service improvement and growth. She has led change in various care settings creating a greater focus on patient care. Therisa has led a nursing team and worked her way from staff nurse to Registered Manager with experience in the mental health field spanning a period of 13 years.

 

        Dr Dilum Jayawickrama, Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist 

        and Responsible Clinician.

Ty Catrin

Dilum is a Consultant forensic Psychiatrist; he is part of the clinical team involved in assessment and management of inpatients within Ty Cwm Rhondda and Ty Catrin secure hospitals attached to the Pastoral Cymru Group. He has previous experience in working and training in Broadmoor (High Secure) Hospital and Caswell Clinic (South Wales Medium Secure Forensic Service).

 

        Dr Andrew Hider, Consultant Clinical Psychologist

Ty Catrin

Dr Andew Hider is a Clinical Psychologist at Ty Catrin. Dr Hider has extensive experience in mental health in improving the psychological well-being of clients, using psychological methods and research to make positive changes to clients’ lives.

 

 

 

        Richard Benson, Clinical Nurse Consultant

Ty Catrin

Richard Benson is a Clinical Nurse Consultant at Ty Catrin. Richard provides excellent care to patients, care procedures and assesses patients' conditions. Richard also collaborates with other health care professionals to improve care quality and continually develops and improves training sessions for staff.

   

 

       Dr Bethan Cunnane, Chartered Clinical Psychologist

Ty Cwm Rhondda

Dr Bethan Cunnane is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist working at Ty Cwm Rhondda.  Dr Cunnane received her doctorate in Clinical Psychology in 2005. Her initial post was in the Caswell Clinic Medium Secure Unit during which time she also provided a psychology service to the In reach Community Mental Health team at HMP Parc.  She joined Pastoral Cymru in 2008 and works in Ty Cwm Rhondda low secure unit proving a comprehensive psychology service to male inpatients of the service.

 

Alyson Page, Registered Manager, Ty Catrin

Alyson Page joined Pastoral Cymru in June 2010. Alyson qualified as a Registered Mental Health Nurse in 1993 and worked briefly in generic adult acute and community services before taking up a position as a staff nurse at Caswell Clinic, (South Wales Forensic Mental health Service).
Alyson’s experience within the Caswell Clinic included in-patient rehabilitation services, community nursing and court diversion work. Additionally Alyson spent time managing the admission/ assessment ward and intensive care. Alyson was involved in the development and management of women’s services at the Clinic.  In 2004 Alyson was seconded to work as an assistant commissioner at Health Commission Wales which provided an insight into the service provision in the independent sector.
In 2006 Alyson took up the position of Registered Manager with Cambian Healthcare and has continued in the Hospital Manager role in the independent sector since that time.

 

Linda Drury, Occupational Therapist, Ty Catrin

Linda has over twenty year’s experience of working in the field of Occupational Therapy in South Wales.
She worked for Pontypridd and Rhondda NHS Trust at their various hospital sites.

As a Senior Occupational Therapist then Manager of the service Linda supported people in both med/low secure units with learning disabilities, autism, complex needs, personality disorder, mental health problems and also had input to a specialist Huntington’s disease unit. 
She then gained further experience by working in an independent med/low secure hospital with people who had personality disorder and mental illness. 

Linda then came to manage the Occupational Therapy Service at Pastoral Cymru.  With assistance from dedicated occupational therapy and ward staff patients are provided with a range of opportunities to explore both at Ty Catrin, Ty Cwm Rhondda and in the community which support and stimulate their valued occupations.

 

Professor Robert Snowden, Ty Catrin

Robert Snowden received his PhD from Cambridge University in 1989.  He then did post-doctorate research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (USA).  He joined Cardiff University in 1991 and was promoted to professor in 1999.  Robert Snowden has diverse research interests covering forensic psychology and visual perception.  Robert Snowden heads the Evaluation and Outcome Programmes for Pastoral Cymru, with a focus on effectiveness of treatment and management of people with personality disorder and enduring mental illness.

 

Gail Blackman, General Nurse Practitioner, Ty Catrin

A registered General Nurse with over thirty years working in various general settings. She worked in Senior Management maintaining her practical skills for twenty years before joining Ty Catrin’s team to take the lead in the Physical Health and Wellbeing of the patients.

 

Alison Williams, Tutor, Ty Catrin

Alison received her BSc Honours Degree in Social Studies and Psychology in 2001 and her Postgraduate Certificate of Education in 2004. 

Alison has worked for RCT and Caerphilly Borough Councils, where she delivered basic skills in the community through Family Learning and Skill Build Programmes.

Alison joined Ty Catrin April 2010, in order to provide patients with the opportunity to engage in various learning programmes suited to individual needs.

 

Dr Warren Lloyd, Consultant Forensic and Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, Ty Catrin

Dr Lloyd is a Consultant Forensic and Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist and has provided the medical input at Ty Catrin since its commissioning in November 2009. Dr Lloyd has experience of providing services for patients at all levels of security and also medium secure Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services. He is a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists.

 

Dr Neetha Byrappa, Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist, Ty Cwm Rhondda

Dr Neetha Byrappa is a Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist and has provided the medical input at Ty Cwm Rhondda since its commissioning in 2007. Dr Byrappa has experience of providing services for patients at all levels of security and is a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists
